Biodynamic Research

This issue of the magazine explores two interconnected pillars of the biodynamic movement: research and future-oriented communities. It reframes research not merely as a laboratory-based or academic pursuit, but as an experiential, daily practice carried out directly on farms through field observations, animal husbandry, and gardening. Rooted in Rudolf Steiner’s anthroposophy, biodynamic agriculture embraces a diverse spectrum of inquiry—ranging from quantitative soil analyses and scientific measurements to qualitative approaches like Goethean observation and the study of etheric forces. Highlighting this diversity, the issue features several articles stemming from the third international conference on biodynamic research held in Britain in September 2025. This inclusive event brought together farmers, students, academics, artists, and economists, illustrating that the integration of varied perspectives is essential for fostering new networks, driving social dynamics, and developing solutions to contemporary agricultural challenges.
